Just an Update

Just thought I would post the pictures of the last group of kittens we had last week. They are already gone and we are on group number 4 so I don't want to get behind. I don't want all my future posts from now on to be about kittens or I will start to sound like I AM the crazy cat lady.

Lucy....

Snoopy....

a pinwheel?

Peppermint Patty, Snoopy and Linus

Now we have a beautiful pure white mommy cat named Java and her 5 kittens (2 white, 2 black and a tabby) ...they have yet to be named.

Not much is too new here. Getting ready for our road trip to Quesnel for the next week. I am so excited. I think Saturday is supposed to be the hottest day this week too! Thank god for AC! I have to work tonite and tomorrow night so my days will consist of laundry and packing and getting organized for our trip. Until next time...........

A Tail of Ten Kitties

Hello everyone! I haven't had much worthy of posting lately so I have decided to pay tribute to all my kittens past and present. For those of you who don't know I take in foster kittens with or without their mommy cat for a shelter here in Langley. I have actually had 14 kittens, contrary to my title, and 2 mommy cats. The first cat I got back last November. Her name was Honda. After about 2 weeks of her arrival she have 4 new arrivals of her own; Mazda, Charlie, Shrek, and Boots. I kept them until about January until they were big enough to be "fixed" and go to their new homes.

After what seemed like the longest time without having kittens to play with I received another mommy cat named "Dash" and her 5 - 1 week old kittens in April. This litter included a pure black kitten we named Diego, a pure orange one we named Oliver, a little tabby we called Nala, a long haired black and white named Panda and a long hair calico kitten we called Chase. I was so surprised that a litter could all be so different.

This week we had to say goodbye to our furry friends but got to exchange them for another litter of 5 who are just waiting to weigh 2 pounds so they can be spayed and neutered and be adopted out. Much to Nick's disappointment this round of energy already came with names; Charlie Brown (orange) Snoopy (black and white) Lucy (tabby) Linus (orange and white) and peppermint Patty (grey and white) I think that we will only have these guys for about 3 weeks or so. They are soooo cute, of course I always say that when I get a new batch. I don't have any pictures of these guys yet so I will post them when I do.

I love having kittens around the house. Sometimes it feels like I am forever filling food and water dishes and changing litter boxes but when a purring baby cuddles up with you when you are on the computer (like now) or watching TV, or reading I find it very relaxing and truly believe that it heals the soul and lowers the stress level. I hope there are many more to come!

New Look

Didn't think that I changed the look of my blog...but what the hay? I kind of like it. It inspires me to try and customize and personalize it a bit more. Now if I only knew how! Well, it's Thursday already. Dont you love short weeks? On Tuesday I went back up to the Lake (yes Susan, the one in Hope-Kawkawa) for the day to visit and pick up Sam, who was lucky enough to spend the weekend there with Nana and Papa. It had been raining when I got there but cleared up to be another gorgeous day. To Nick's dismay almost all of the tadpoles have disappeared-not sure where they have gone but it took us practically half a day to catch 5! We did however come across a big bull frog and a baby raccoon in a box. So exciting! So what's new here? I did get some sad news yesterday; my good friend Carla and her family are moving to Campbell River this summer. Exciting for them, but we will miss them. I do have some fabulous news though too...Brian and I are going to Nova Scotia! Brian is moving one of his customers to his new home. We are leaving on Friday August 4th and taking a week to 10 days to drive across Canada. Then at the end we will fly home. It will be a lot of driving, but I can't wait to see the East Coast, sleep in hotels/motels and eat out every night! Now we just have to see where the kids are going to dwell. Well I think that is it for now. Will post again soon.

Nicks "friend"

Soooo Cute-but NOT happy to be in a box!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy (Belated) Canada Day to everyone. For the long weekend Mike, Deb, Brian and I and the kids went camping up to Harrison. It was an awesome weekend; the weather was perfect and a good time was had by all. The kids couldn't have slept better if they were at home in their own beds (or, I mean, my bed!) I was a little worried about Kayla because of her "every half hour crying fits" on our last camping trip. But they both slept solidly until morning all 3 nights. Below is a picture of our very unorganized campsite. But who needs to be organized when you're camping right?

We spent a little time each day down at the beach. We had to drive half way, park and then walk the rest of the way as it was too far to walk with the kids and all our gear. It was very busy, but we never had a problem finding a spot to sit or play. There was a lot of Canada Day festivities going on Saturday including a parade, which we missed because we were all napping and an amazing fireworks display right on the beach.

On the way home on Monday Brian and the kids and I stopped at Tug Boat Junction to play mini golf and have a miniature train ride. It was fun. Then we made our way home via Chilliwack for a pee stop for Kayla and lunch. It seemed to take forever to get home, but we made it. The weekend was very fun and exhausting at the same time. Can you imagine how much junk you need to take camping? Real camping? I could have made a list after 10 minutes of being there of stuff that we needed that didn't have. But that is what camping is all about; Improvising!
