A Day at the Lake

Yesterday was such a nice day out and I had nothing going on all day so I decided to take the kids up to the lake for the day. It was gorgeous! We spent the whole day at the water swimming and playing in the water and sand and at the park. Nicholas had a great time with his fish net as the lake is absolutely swarming with tadpoles. He would fill his bucket up and then dump them out only to fill it right back up again. I have never seen this many tadpoles in the lake before. Wont he be excited when they turn in to frogs! Good grief! We spent the later half of the late afternoon up in the shade at the motorhome and the kids were content to play with their toys on a towel in the grass. Then we had cold chicken and veggies and dip and potato salad for dinner and went home shortly after 8:00pm. I think the kids fell asleep before I even hit the freeway! Needless to say it was an extremely quiet ride home for me; and I am not complaining, believe me! Now it is Wednesday and I have to work the rest of the week until we go camping for the long weekend. Oh well, at least I am home during the day to enjoy the sunshine while it's here.

A Posting at Last!

The past couple of weeks were good, but they went by too fast. Last weekend we went to Derby's Reach in Fort Langley to play for the day with Warren and Audrey who were camping there for the weekend. It is located right in a park along the Fraser River. Very nice spot. We went bike riding and played in the park and then had a BBQ. It was really nice. Father's Day was spent mostly at Brian's Mom and Dad's house out in the yard and in the pool. We didn't do much during the week; just our usual out and about walking. I "got" a fabulous new double jogging stroller from work and walking with the two girls in it is so nice. So much easier to push than my regular stroller. This weekend was Brian's turn to work the Saturday and we had plans to stay at Audrey and Warrens house for the weekend with Breanne (Brian's niece) and Kody (the family dog) while they were away. I was to pick up our new furniture with Brian's truck on Saturday from the warehouse but when we finally got down there I was told that it was not there and that the particular set/color we were to get was sold out before I purchased it but the salesman didn't call to verify. Why can we never buy something without some kind of hitch? So needless to say we should be receiving a refund today and have decided to get our very much needed new bed instead. Well I think that is it for now. We are looking forward to camping this coming long weekend. I am sure I will have much to tell after that. I will leave you with a few new pictures until next time..........

Happy Birthday Brian!

Hello Everyone! I have to admit that it is not as easy to keep this blog updated as I thought it was going to be. I never really think that anything is worthy of posting. With that said, here is what is new..... We had a pretty quiet week last week. Stayed in most of the week as the weather wasn't the greatest and went for walks when it was semi-nice out. Nick had his Kindergarten orientation on Tuesday afternoon. All that I had to do was take him over to the school for 1:30 and sit in the multi-purpose while he got to go down with the other kids to see the classrooms. We do not know yet if he will be attending morning or afternoon classes yet. I am told we will get something in the mail over the summer. Makes me excited for September. I had to work Wednesday and Friday night so that made the rest of the week go pretty quickly. Last night we went out for dinner to the Keg with Brian's family for his birthday (which is actually today) It was great; a little drinking and a LOT of laughing. Tonite we are going out for Chinese with my side of the family and then to my parents house for cake and ice cream. What will I do for the rest of the week when I might actually have to cook? Well I don't have much more to say. I work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night this week so I am sure the weekend will be here before I know it. Below are some pictures for you all to enjoy...

I'm not quite sure what Nick is doing here....dancing maybe?

Nick vs the Canoe

I got the idea in my head that I wanted to have our family canoe at my house to use at my leisure, so this past week I went out to my Mom and Dads house to get it. It has been hanging in my Dads garage for the last 10 years plus. Well, anyone who knows my Dad, knows that there is not one single inch of wasted space in that garage! After shifting some things around, climbing up and over some "things", standing with my neck bent so that I wouldn't hit my head on the ceiling, and surprisingly not a lot of bad words, we managed to barely get it out. So needless to say, this weekend we went camping up to the lake and took the canoe. The weather turned out to be really sunny by Saturday afternoon and we were able to go out in it after dinner. Brian and I went first with Nicholas. It took a few minutes to get use to the balance but I think we did alright. Then Nick and I went out alone. He looked so grown up paddling along with me in the front of the boat. He did such a good job. It started to rain early this morning and was on and off all day. We did manage to get out in the canoe for a bit this afternoon before we came home. I have decided that we really need to get a camper or trailer or something. It really sucked packing away our tent and other stuff while it was all wet. Oh well, it was nice to get away as a family for the weekend!
